The Grumpy Old Man [userpic]

In a recent debate with D'Souza, Christopher Hitchens says that people are afraid of death.

I'm not. Like he says, when you're dead you know nothing, and I'll extend that to say that being dead will have the same impact on me as being pre-born. The first 4 billion years or so of the Earth's existence is unknown to me and it didn't bother me at all.

I am, however, afraid of dying, which is an altogether different thing.

Coincidentally, he's speaking here Wednesday night. I'm still deciding whether or not to go.

Hitchens or D'Souza? I'd definitely recommend the former.

Hitchens. I think I'll try to go.

didja go?!?

I didn't. :( Had to take my trig exam after tutoring. I heard it was a great discussion, though.

Aw :(

Maybe next time, then

Yeah.

Here's the article from the ISU Daily yesterday: http://www.iowastatedaily.com/news/2007/11/01/News/Lecturer.Decries.Religion.In.Society-3070631.shtml

The site really sucks today, so don't be surprised if it won't load... it took me forever just to get to the archives directly from the home page.
